Celtic fans tell club to ‘start selling’ Japanese street delicacy at Parkhead after Yokohama friendly

CELTIC were the losers on the park in Yokohama against Kevin Muscat's F.Marinos.

But the travelling support were big winners when it came to the CATERING.

If the Hoops fans were bemused by the football fayre on display in the 6-4 hammering - the same couldn't be said for the food on offer.

The octopus snack Takoyaki had Celts salivating over social media - and lambasting their own snack bars at Celtic Park.

Brendan Rodgers is expected to do some big-money business to improve the squad that conceded half a dozen in his first game back in charge.

But he's now being encouraged to use some of his transfer window warchest to sign Yokohama's CHEF as well as players for his first team!

The club's official account even tweeted the half-time delicacy being sold by the kiosks at the Nissan Stadium.

Many replied calling for similar dishes to be implemented in the Parkhead concourses next season to mirror the influx of Japanese players on the park.

At £3.31 - or 600 yen in the local currency - it not only looked tasty, but good value too!

The Hoops are now facing calls to give their own offerings a lift after the street food samples were compared to Parkhead pies and pizzas.

One fan joked: "Sign the chef up or at least get him on loan."

Another replied: "Please pick up some types to bring back to Celtic Park... You can just about afford a drink for £3.31."

A third said: "Better than the 'cuisine' that’s offered by our club"

Another added: "Announce fairly priced Japanese street food stall at Paradise."

More chimed in with responses to the food picture which also tagged, and was carried by, popular account @FootyScran.

Another tweeted: "Start selling this at the pie stalls,"

"Edible food at a decent price? Will never catch on…" was another aside.

Wednesday morning's high-scoring friendly kicked off the second Brendan Rodgers era and certainly gave the boss food for thought.

But he wouldn't panic after seeing Daizen Maeda fire a hat-trick in the first half and the scores tied 3-3 at the break.

David Turnbull also scored late on but the Hoops shipped another three and Rodgers said: "It was a really good exercise for us.

"It was a real challenge from a physical perspective.

"We have just arrived in Japan and we played against a team who are more than halfway into their season.

"That was always going to be a challenge.

"There were some really good bits in the game and the goals were excellent.
