Calvin Bassey ready to ‘abandon’ Ajax and move to Premier League as cheeky Dutch legend offers ex-Ger transfer ‘help’

CALVIN BASSEY is ready to abandon Ajax and move back to the English Premier League, according to reports.
Fulham have been credited with the latest bid for the former Rangers defender - and Rafael van der Vaart has even offered to help 'facilitate' the transfer.
The Dutch legend, formerly of Ajax, Real Madrid and Tottenham has been one of Bassey's fiercest critics in the Eredivisie.
He has now sarcastically offered to drive the defender to London in a GOLF CART if it means he will leave Amsterdam.
And reports in Holland say it's increasingly likely that exit wish will come true.
The 23-year-old played 39 times last season - including a return meeting with his old Rangers pals in the Champions League - but has been warned he won't reach a similar figure next term.

Brighton have been credited with interest previously but Fulham have also emerged as a potential destination for the former Leicester City youth.
De Telegraaf says "he can earn considerably more at Fulham than in Amsterdam, so that he seems to be abandoning his initial desire to succeed at Ajax."
Bassey endured heavy criticism following his big-money move from Ibrox and Rafael van der vaart has had the Nigerian international in his sights several times.
In January he questioned his signing: "Where was the Ajax youth system? Was there no one there better than him? Because if there isn't then you have a major problem.

"Sometimes it's better if you don't have any money because then you don't do crazy things. Then you wait for the right moment and occasionally take a chance.
"Instead they spent 23 million Euros on Bassey. Alfred Schreuder made too many big mistakes."
And now his detractor has added another swipe at Bassey.
van de Vaart has offered to take him all the way to London in a golf buggy if it means a £17m deal can be done.
He said: "For that amount of money for Calvin Bassey I would drive him myself to London in a golf cart.
"It's incredible Ajax could get £17 million for a player who spent the entire season passing the ball to the opposition."
The defender's passing also came under scrutiny last season but hasn't put off the Seagulls or dented the west Londoners' interest in taking him to Craven Cottage.
