Everton are in advanced talks with Almeria for forward El Bilal Toure but face competition from Atalanta.

The Italian side want a striker to replace Rasmus Hojlund, who is awaiting an offer from Manchester United this week.

Sean Dyche is keen to add more firepower to his ranks after a toothless 2022/23 saw them score just 34 goals, the second-worst tally behind Wolves.

The Toffees are trying to reel in Toure, having seen Ellis Simms leave for Coventry City and knowing that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has a patchy fitness record.

They have already added Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma on loan as well as Ashley Young on a one-year deal.

Atalanta are bracing themselves for the potential loss of Hojlund if Man United stump up £86m

Last season, the Mali international scored seven goals in 21 games as Almeria survived their first season back in La Liga by finishing 17th.

Coincidentally, Toure scored as Almeria secured safety on the last day of the season in a similar fashion to Everton.

This season, however, the Merseyside outfit want to look up the league rather than down it.

Manchester United face a stumbling block in their pursuit of Atalanta man Hojlund despite agreeing personal terms.

The Italian side insist they will only sell their man for £86m, a demand the Red Devils will struggle to meet, though Atalanta are looking into Toure in case they do lose their Danish star.
