The summer transfer window is getting interesting as we enter the final few weeks, and clubs move to add more new players to their squad.

Unai Emery has so far seen three new faces arrive at Villa Park. Youri Tielemans signed on a free transfer, while Pau Torres arrived from Villarreal and Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen, all three have featured in pre-season as the Premier League season gets closer.

Villa are keen to add further before the end of the window, and have been linked with a number of different players throughout the summer. Emery’s side will have European football to attract players to the club over the next few weeks.

Eyes may also be on who could leave the club before the window closes. Youngster Aaron Ramsey is said to be gaining interest, while the likes of Marvelous Nakamba and Wesley have already completed moves away.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest transfer stories that have been doing the rounds around Villa.

Gonzalo Monteil ‘contact’

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo report that Villa have had contact with Sevilla over defender Gonzalo Montiel.

The 26-year-old is said to be unhappy at the club, having fallen down the pecking order behind Jesus Navas and Juanlu Sanchez. It is reported that Villa could have competition from Argentina, with talks taking place over a return to River Plate, although the player is said to prefer a stay in Europe.

Villa could have an advantage in any transfer race, with Monchi signing the player for Sevilla back in 2021. There is said to have been ‘simple contacts’ between the clubs.

Barcelona reach Kessie ‘agreement’

Aston Villa look to have missed out on midfielder Franck Kessie, who looks set to be the latest player to complete a move to Saudi Arabia.

It is reported that Barcelona have agreed a fee of around £12.9m with Al Ahil for the player, who is set to sign a three-year contract with the club. Kessie has been a squad player for Barcelona since moving to the club, with Villa linked with an interest over the last three transfer windows.

Digne ‘a target’ for Saudi club

Another player linked with a move to Saudi Arabia is Villa defender Lucas Digne, with Al-Hilal reported to be showing an interest.

The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order at Villa Park since the arrival of Alex Mareno back in January. It is reported by the Daily Mail that the Al-Hilal are ready to press ahead with a move for the full-back, with Villa ‘open to offers’ this summer.

It is however understood that Digne is settled at Villa Park and is happy to remain at the club.

Tyler Adams latest

Villa target Tyler Adams is not ‘agitating’ for a move away from Leeds United this summer, amid interest from a number of clubs.

Reports suggest that the USA international has a £20-25 million release clause in his contract at Elland Road, which Villa are ready to activate. It is however claimed that the player is not pushing for a move this summer, with his full concentration on his recovery from injury.

Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton are among the other clubs to be linked with an interest during the transfer window.

De Ketelaere details emerge

Details of the deal between AC Milan and Atlanta for Villa linked forward Charles De Ketelaere have emerged, with a deal agreed between the two clubs .

Villa have been credited with an interest in the player this summer, with some reports even suggesting that the club have seen a bid turned down for the Belgian.

As reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano , the deal will see Atalanta pay a €3 million (£2.6m) loan fee, with an option to buy at €23 million (£19.9m), and a 10 percent sell-on clause inserted into the deal. It is now said to be up to the player on if he accepts a move to the fellow Serie A club.
