Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers explains Starfelt and Hatate selection snub as he says ‘last season doesn’t really matter’

BRENDAN RODGERS laid a marker down with his first Scottish Premiership team selection of the season.
In came David Turnbull, who rewarded his manager's faith with a double - while new boy Maik Nawrocki came in alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers at the back.
But the moves meant there was NO place for two of last season's mainstays in Reo Hatate and Carl Starfelt.
We told you this week how Starfelt could be set to LEAVE the Parkhead club, with Rodgers confirming to reporters that could indeed be the case.
Then there is Hatate - one of the jewels in the Parkhead crown.
Rodgers said merely that Turnbull had earned his start in the club's pre-season matches - and that last season "doesn't really matter".

"It's always good when you maybe don't play at the top of the game that you still win well.
"But give credit to Malky's team Ross County as well."
