A new season doesn’t just mean a settling-in period for new signings, but their WAGs as well.

After a pre-season of jetting around the globe for friendlies, the first taste bout of competitive action takes place today when Manchester City meet Arsenal in the Community Shield.

Many of the players’ wives and girlfriends will be in the stands at Wembley watching their other halves in action, including the beaus of new Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Kai Havertz and City's midfield signing from Chelsea, Mateo Kovacic.

Lauren Fryer – Declan Rice’s girlfriend

Arsenal’s new £100m man has a steadying influence by his side in Fryer. The pair are teenage sweethearts, having met at school at the age of 17.

Last year, Fryer gave birth to the couple’s first child, a boy named Jude. While she has regularly been spotted at Rice’s games over the years, she prefers to stay out of the spotlight, with her Instagram account featuring just a few pictures of the couple and their dog.

Her Insta bio simply reads “Jude mummy”.

Izabel Kovacic – Mateo Kovacic

Following Mateo Kovacic to Manchester will be his ex-supermodel wife Izabel, who is a regular presence at her husband’s matches.

The most high-profile of Croatia’s WAGs, Izabel’s blonde locks have seen her compared to singer Shakira. She has turned fashion designer, launching a company, Lunilou, which she runs with her sister Ivana Lucic.

Having started out selling eco-friendly baby products, they have branched out into making men’s and women’s clothing, again using sustainable materials.

Sophia Weber – Kai Havertz’s partner

Havertz may be enjoying a fresh start after his big-money move from Chelsea to Arsenal, but he still wears the face of a man who’s been sent on loan to Dover for the season.

That’s surprising given life seems to be going swimmingly for the German, who is loved up with his photogenic model/influencer girlfriend Weber, who has almost 400,000 followers on Instagram.

“I think everyone at home, especially my girlfriend, has had some tough weeks. I think she is happy now again and so am I.”
