Llorente claim

The Magpies now look well stocked in central midfield following the blockbuster arrival of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan. Academy graduates Elliot Anderson and Lewis Miley have both staked their claims in recent weeks with strong pre-season outings.

However, that has not stopped Fichajes from suggesting that Eddie Howe wants to sign Marcos Llorente 'at all costs'. The Atletico Madrid midfielder's future has been the subject of recent speculation, with the 28-year-old among a host of European stars linked with a lucrative switch to Saudi Arabia

The report does not suggest an agreement has been reached between the clubs for Llorente, who could be departing the Spanish capital having made 150 appearances for the club.

Bruno 'priority'

Howe was relaxed when he was recently asked about the ongoing contract negotiations with Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazil international himself stressed he was keen for a resolution to be reached sooner rather than later, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the midfielder's future.

Romano told CaughtOffside: “Negotiations are ongoing at Newcastle over the new contract of star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The club are confident of reaching an agreement with the player, as their first proposal in terms of salary was not at the level Bruno expected, but talks continue.

"For Newcastle, the Brazilian’s contract is a priority; therefore, they are not currently searching the market for replacements should Guimaraes decide not to sign a new deal.”
