We are now just days away from the 2023/24 Premier League season getting underway, with Chelsea welcoming Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Both clubs failed to get anywhere near their sky-high standards last term and will be looking to make the perfect start in west London. Chelsea, now managed by Mauricio Pochettino, have endured yet another summer of wholesale changes, with over ten players leaving the club on permanent deals and multiple incomings as well.

So it looks set to be another period of transition for Chelsea, but they will be hoping it will be the last one at the club for some time now, with Pochettino and his backroom staff having big plans at Stamford Bridge. It all starts this summer and with just a few weeks left of the transfer window, time is running out for the club to do their final bits of business.

There are just a few days between now and when Liverpool come to town. So with that said, football.london takes a look at what would be considered a 'dream' period for Chelsea in terms of transfer business before they take on the Reds.

Caicedo breakthrough made

As reported on Monday afternoon, there is an expectancy that Chelsea will launch a fourth official offer to Brighton this week for Moises Caicedo. Chelsea have already had three bids turned down by the Seagulls – with the latest believed to be worth £80million altogether – for the Ecuador international.

Brighton are holding out for £100m for their star midfielder after seeing Declan Rice going for just over that to Arsenal earlier in the summer transfer window. The Seagulls expect Caicedo to be involved on Saturday afternoon as they welcome newly-promoted Luton Town to the Amex Stadium.

However, if Chelsea were to make a breakthrough in ongoing negotiations, then that could indeed change. This needs to be resolved sooner or later for the best for both clubs.

Adams clause activated

Chelsea are also interested in signing Tyler Adams from Leeds United. Any deal to sign the American midfielder would be as well as Caicedo, rather than one or the other, football.london understands.

Adams has a £20m release clause inserted in his contract at Elland Road following the club's relegation to the Championship. Chelsea are considering paying that clause, but there is no rush, with Adams still sidelined because of a hamstring injury he suffered towards the end of last season.

Loan clubs found

Chelsea have a number of youngsters who simply will not get the game-time required for the upcoming season at Stamford Bridge. So, as Chelsea have done so much over recent seasons, there are expected to be a number of players loaned out before the transfer window closes.

With the season fast approaching around the whole of Europe, time is running out for these loans to be sanctioned. The likes of Cesare Casadei, Gabriel Slonina, Tino Anjorin, Lesley Ugochukwu, Lewis Hall, Diego Moreira and Angelo Gabriel could all be loaned out in the next few weeks.
