Gustaf Lagerbielke sees Celtic transfer 'bid' launched as £3m Elfsborg offer made amid Carl Starfelt replacement hunt

The Hoops are moving quickly to find their replacement for Carl Starfelt and a candidate has emerged.

Gustaf Lagerbielke is the subject of Celtic transfer interest as the Hoops look to land a Carl Starfelt replacement.

The Swedish defender currently with Elfsborg has been capped by his national team after form found in the Allsvenskan. Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is after a replacement for Celta Vigo-bound Starfelt, who was put on the bench for Saturday's 4-2 win against Ross County as talks over a move progressed.

Expressen claim that a 'record bid' offer in the region of 40SEK (£3m) has been tabled by Celtic, 'who are working on signing the centre-back.' It is stated that 'Elfsborg is currently evaluating the bid and it remains to be seen if there will be a sale of the defender.' They claim 'Lagerbielke is intended to replace Carl Starfelt.' The previous Elfsborg record is from 2010 when they sold Emir Bajrami to Dutch side Twente for SEK 35 million. Negotiations over the deal have been ongoing for the last couple of days.
