Andersen asking price
Joachim Andersen has been repeatedly linked as a potential target for the Magpies in this window. Eddie Howe is said to be keen on bringing in a right-sided central defender who excels in possession and could rival Fabian Schar for a starting spot.
Andersen has impressed in the Premier League, initially for Fulham and for the last two seasons with Crystal Palace. Now, Newcastle are said to be 'confident' the Eagles will lower their reported price tag of £40 million for the Denmark international.
That is according to Football Transfers, who add the Magpies will move on to other targets if Crystal Palace stay firm on their valuation of Andersen. The 27-year-old's future could depend upon Palace's own move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou, although Manchester United's interest in team-mate Edmond Tapsoba could complicate matters further.

McTominay update
Scott McTominay was repeatedly linked with a switch to St James' Park earlier in the window, having previously been tipped to make the move in January. However, rumours over Newcastle signing the Manchester United midfielder quietened down after Howe landed top target Sandro Tonali last month.
West Ham appear to be leading the race for the Scotland international, with David Moyes seemingly identifying the Red Devils midfielder as the ideal replacement for Declan Rice. However, Manchester United have reportedly turned down a £30m approach for the midfielder, with an agreement said to be close on Harry Maguire.
Now, Sky Sports report Newcastle could yet rekindle their interest in McTominay as West Ham mull over their next move.
