Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle to sell Brazil midfielder Fred to Fenerbahce in a deal worth up to £12.9million.
The player will fly out to Istanbul on Saturday to have a medical and discuss personal terms before signing subject to international clearance. United will receive an initial £8.6m plus £4.3 in add-ons.
Fred cost United £52m from Shakhtar Donetsk when he moved to Old Trafford in June 2018, but the club believe they have got a good deal for a 30-year-old player who only had one year left on his contract.
Fulham were also interested along with Fenerbahce’s Turkish rivals Galatasaray and Besiktas, but the Istanbul club were able to close a deal with United.
Fred made 213 appearances in five years at Old Trafford, scoring 14 goals.
