Fred confirms exit


Fred has confirmed his departure from Manchester United by sending a heartfelt farewell message to supporters.


The midfielder made just 12 league starts last season and with just a year left on his contract at Old Trafford, the club accepted an offer of €15million (£12.93m) from Fenerbahce and the transfer is set to be completed imminently.

United will receive €10m up front with €5m in add-ons for Fred and he flew to Istanbul on Saturday morning for his medical. Fred signed for United from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 in a £52m deal and he's spent five years in Manchester. He won just one trophy, the Carabao Cup last season, during his stay and his last appearance was in the FA Cup final.

Martinez on mood


Lisandro Martinez has admitted the players in the Manchester United dressing room are 'hungry' for success in the new season.

Although there were doubts about whether Erik ten Hag would be able to handle the pressure at Old Trafford, he enjoyed an excellent first year in charge and restored the connection between fans and players. United comfortably qualified for Champions League football and the longest trophy drought at the club for over 40 years was ended with victory in the Carabao Cup, although the team did fall short in the FA Cup final.

Regardless of that disappointing defeat to Manchester City in the last game of the campaign, it was an overwhelmingly positive 12 months and Martinez has said the squad is motivated and prepared to compete again.
