Birmingham City are among the clubs looking to sign striker Sory Kaba from FC Midtjylland, BirminghamLive understands.

Kaba has been identified by Blues’ recruitment team to bolster John Eustace’s forward options. The club are battling a host of Championship teams, including Watford, to land the 28-year-old.

He only returned to Midtjylland over the summer after a successful loan spell in the Championship with Cardiff City. Kaba scored eight goals in 17 matches to ensure the Bluebirds avoided relegation to League One.

Kaba, who stands at 6ft 3ins, has also represented the Guinea national team. He hasn’t scored in seven matches for Midtjylland this season after being reintegrated to their squad by new head coach Thomas Thomasberg.

If Blues manage to close the deal, Kaba will become the fourth senior striker on their books. In addition to Lukas Jutkiewicz and Scott Hogan, Blues also have Sam Cosgrove - although his future could lie away from St Andrew’s.

Technical director Craig Gardner has overseen an enormous rebuild this summer and Kaba would become Blues’ 10th summer signing.
