What PSV think about Rangers as uber confident Bosz eyes a hat-trick and Veerman senses revenge
The 59-year-old knows all about leaving the Ibrox side reeling and is targeting a hat-trick next week in Glasgow.
Confident PSV boss Peter Bosz admits a return duel with Rangers holds no fears for him as he aims to make it a hat-trick of Ibrox wins with three different teams.
The 59-year-old has already won in Glasgow with Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon, in 2020 and 2021, and is aiming to repeat the trick with the side who came up short against the Ibrox men in last season's Champions League playoff round. The two teams have been reunited after Rangers edged past Servette 3-2 on aggregate and the Dutch big-hitters pasted Sturm Graz 7-2 over two legs.
And Bosz was quick to remind Rangers who he is and what he is capable of as his PSV side head to Glasgow next Tuesday for the first leg. He said: "I beat them with Leverkusen and Lyon." But Bosz admits extra work will commence as he and his scouting team run the rule over Michael Beale's men ahead of the Glasgow showdown.
He added: “I know they played 1-1 against Servette and it wouldn't have been easy. Our focus is first on Vitesse, then I hear from John Feskens what we can expect.”
And former Rangers target Joey Veerman – who was left miffed by Gio Van Bronckhorst's side seeing them off last seasons – admits revenge is on his mind as he predicted a battle for the ages to reach the world's richest tournament.
He said: “We are out for revenge, of course. That was already a nice atmosphere last year. They also play very physical football. We have to arm ourselves against that, but we are already doing well this season.
“It was a wonderful evening of football (in Graz). I enjoyed the atmosphere. And I don't just mean the home supporters. Our field trip was also really great.”
