Arsenal flop sends new side crashing out of Europe after missing decisive penalty
Matteo Guendouzi saw his side go crashing out of the Champions League on Tuesday evening after he gave away a late penalty - and then missed his spot-kick in the shoot-out
Arsenal flop Matteo Guendouzi sent his side crashing out of the Champions League when he fluffed his lines from the spot.
Guendouzi, who ix best remembered for his time at Arsenal, now plays for Marseille - alongside fellow ex-Gunner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Panathinaikos led the tie 1-0 on aggregate, and Aubameyang fired Marseille ahead minutes into the second leg at the Stade Velodrome on Tuesday.
Aubameyang then doubled the tally to send Marseille on top for the first time in the clash. However, Guendouzi made headlines for all the wrong reasons when he conceded a penalty in the 99th minute.
Fotis Ioannidis dispatched the spot-kick, to send the game to extra-time. And neither side was able to find the net in the additional 30 minutes, leading to a penalty shoot-out.

Ioannidis was the first to step up to the spot, and he again blasted his penalty home - as he had done thirty minutes beforehand.
Guendouzi was first to step up for Marseille, looking to redeem his earlier error, but he saw his effort saved by Panathinaikos' shot-stopper Alberto Brignoli. Every other spot-kick was converted - leaving a devastated Guendouzi with his head in his hands.
