Leeds United fans mock up Willy Gnonto as a giant cry baby for new flag at Elland Road
Leeds United fans have mocked up a brutal Willy Gnonto flag – showing the wantaway striker as a cry baby outside Elland Road
Leeds United fans have savagely hit out at wantaway striker Wilfried Gnonto after the striker refused to play for the Whites following their relegation.
Gnonto, 19, only joined Leeds last summer from Swiss side FC Zurich and proved to be a constant threat in the Whites' frontline.
But the Italian was unable to help keep Leeds in the Premier League and following their relegation, he has put in a transfer request after refusing to play for the club, manager Daniel Farke has also omitted him from first-team training.
And unsurprisingly, such disrespect towards the club and his team-mates has seen Leeds fans hit out at Gnonto in a new flag that was unveiled outside Elland Road ahead of Leeds’ Championship Friday night clash against West Brom.

The flag held aloft by a Leeds fan, showed Gnonto’s face photoshopped onto the body of a baby with the caption: “Waaah Waaah I not wanna play in the Championship”.
Leeds fans behind the flag got plenty of support from fellow Leeds fans and other football lovers feeling sympathetic towards their situation, with one supporter commenting: “Everton fan here, that’s genuinely amazing, fully support it too, the kid has handled this as poorly as I’ve ever seen.”

Gnonto reportedly submitted a written transfer request just hours before Leeds’ game against West Brom, after the Whites had rejected ‘multiple’ bids from Everton – the latest worth £25million.
Gnonto’s exit is also believed to be fuelled by his desire to be considered for Italy’s Euro 2024 squad, with top flight football likely to help his chances of selection.
Leeds teammate Luis Sinisterra has also been left out of the squad to face the Baggies on Friday after he too has found himself central to transfer interest away from the Championship, but Leeds are said to be more encouraged that the Dutchman will remain at Elland Road this summer.
