Cardiff City player ratings v Leicester City as Mahlon Romeo sees red and Ramsey hammers wondergoal

Here is how the Bluebirds players rated against the Foxes

Leicester City continued a perfect start to the season in dramatic fashion as Cesare Casadei came off the bench to score an injury-time winner at home to beat Cardiff City 2-1.

Here's how the Bluebirds rated:

Jak Alnwick 7

Another good display. Made a number of fantastic saves to keep City in the game, including a terrific 1v1 effort to deny Stephy Mavididi.

Mahlon Romeo 4

Stepped in for Perry Ng and had a mixed outing. Mavididi was a tricky customer down his wing and got the better of him a few times. Went on one excellent run late on to release Yakou Meite. Sent off late on.

Mark McGuinness 6

One of those performances where you didn't really notice him but he was generally solid. Made one good block from a Kelechi Iheanacho shot in the first half. Maybe partially to blame for Cesare Casedei's late winner, but that might be harsh.

Dimitrios Goutas 5

A couple of shaky moments in and out of possession. Gave the ball away cheaply once or twice. Still doesn't look completely settled yet. Subbed in the second half.

Jamilu Collins 7

Generally very solid and there were glimpses of him being back to his old self. Very encouraging to see. Would have been star man had it not been for Ramsey's worldie.

Ryan Wintle 5

A fairly unremarkable performance from the midfielder. Needed to drive the ball forward or take control when Cardiff were on the ropes in the first half. Did better when City were in the ascendancy.

Joe Ralls 6

Came back into the side and did well in the middle of the park. Had one excellent effort saved well by Mads Hermansen just after the break.

Josh Bowler 5

Again showed one or two fleet-footed moments of quality, but also cut a frustrated figure, too. Went on one or two mazy runs which troubled the Foxes defence. You get the sense he will flourish once Cardiff are on the front foot.

Aaron Ramsey 7 (star man)

Well, what can you say? Scored the goal of the season in the third Championship game. Belted a 30-yard effort into the top corner and almost single-handedly earned his side a point. Simply incredible.

Callum O'Dowda 6

It was the right call to play him in front of Collins for a game like this and he helped to keep the Foxes quiet down that flank. Tidy enough with the ball.

Ike Ugbo 5

Was a thankless task trying to lead the line in the first half, but he didn't have much of a say on proceedings and was hooked at the break.

Subs

Yakou Meite (Ugbo '46) 6 - Instantly looked a better option for City leading the line. Was strong, held the ball up and Cardiff could launch their counter-attacks more comfortably playing off him. Missed a massive 1v1 chance late on.

Manolis Siopis (Ralls '61) 6 - Looked busy and zipped about a bit on debut. Looks like he will cover a lot of ground this season.

Karlan Grant (Bowler '66) 5 - Had one chance which he slightly dragged into the side netting.

Callum Robinson (Ramsey '76) 6 - Kept the ball well without being spectacular. Linked up place nicely enough.

Jack Simpson (Goutas '76) 4 - Got booked and had a hand to play in the Foxes' late goal after his mis-control and foul of Jamie Vardy in City's box.
