Ianis Hagi reveals frustration over lack of Rangers game time & admits he ‘doesn’t agree’ with Michael Beale’s decision

IANIS HAGI admits he wasn’t happy at being left out of the Rangers’ starting lineup yesterday.

Hagi, 24, said: “Every player wants to play. I’m disappointed about the situation but I respect the gaffer’s decision although it doesn’t mean I agree with it.

“He’s the manager. I’m a simple guy - I just love football, I train on a daily basis. I’ve had a one-year injury, they know me and my history and what I did.

“I’ve never felt better. I knew I needed a full pre-season. I think I’m the only one who didn’t miss a session and I’ve been available in everything.

“I’m really happy with how I am physically and some of my stats are better than prior to the injury.”

Rangers avoided a shock cup upset at Ibrox to beat Dougie Imrie's Morton 2-1 despite skipper Grant Gillespie's opener.

New signings Cyriel Dessers and Danilo scored later in the second half to secure the win and progress to the quarter-final of the Viaplay Cup.

Light Blues gaffer Beale insists he is seeing positive signs from his new-look team though and expects big changes midweek against PSV.

He said:

"We're the slight underdogs I'm led to believe but what a wonderful opportunity for the staff, the players and the fans as well.

"We want Champions League football back here and we're going to have to get past a very very good side.

"It's different players that will play on Tuesday obviously, it won't be the same 11 that played today.

"I'm seeing the right signs, we're scoring goals which is a big thing and we're creating chances.

"It's a completely different game but it's clear we need to work on one or two connections.

"We made decisions today (with the team selection) for the right reasons for the next four games coming up.

"It's a cup final, it's a two legged cup final. We need the fans in the stadium and everybody behind us.

"They're a very talented side but I think so are we. So what are we going to do? Be cautious or are we going to have a right go?

"I think the best way for our team to play is to go and have a right go and to try to run and peg them back and to use the crowd and everything."
