World Cup-winning Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro revealed he was blown away by the raucous Ibrox atmosphere on a European night - and claimed only Boca Juniors matched it for emotion.

The legendary defender had an illustrious playing career which saw him star for some of the world’s biggest clubs including Inter Milan, Juventus as well as Real Madrid in Spain. He was also capped an astonishing 136 times for the Azzurri making him the most capped outfield player and led them to the ultimate prize with World Cup glory in Germany in 2006.

Claudio Reyna and Tony Vidmar were on target in a 2-0 victory for the Serie A side who defeated Rangers the previous season en route to winning the UEFA Cup. Cannavaro's misery was compounded by the fact he was sent off on the night.

"Nevertheless, I’ll never forget that night in Glasgow. Wow – I was really impressed. Despite being sent off, I have fantastic memories of the game: walking onto the pitch, listening to the Champions League seeing that red, white and blue wall... I had never seen anything like that."
