Barcelona register Marcos Alonso on time

Barcelona full-back Marcos Alonso is already registered on the La Liga website and could be in the squad for Sunday's game against Villarreal.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen's renewal until 2028 would have generated enough salary margin to register the contract until June 2024 that the Madrid defender signed last January.

After this registration, centre-back Inigo Martinez, who is still recovering from a right fascia injury, and second-choice goalkeeper Inaki Pena are the only players in the first team squad who have not yet been cleared to play in the domestic competition.

It looked like it was going to be the goalkeeper who was registered this time, as they only have Ter Stegen, but in the end it was the full-back, who can also play as a centre-back.
