Leicester outcast Harry Souttar is facing an uncertain end to the transfer window amid swirling rumours he could make a move to Rangers this summer.

Souttar is well down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium following the arrival of Enzo Maresca and once again failed to make the squad for the victory over Rotherham - meaning the Italian has yet to include the £15 million January signing in a squad so far this term. Reports south of the border suggest that the English Championship side would be willing to allow the Australia international to leave the club on loan just months after his arrival.

The hype around the potential move of the Socceroo to Ibrox has only ramped up with Ibrox transfer sleuths on high alert after the latest recruitment updates from both Maresca and Rangers boss Michael Beale. For Maresca, he is facing a nervous end to the window after an impressive start to the season in England's second tier.

Jannick Vestergaard has emerged as his first-choice centre-back this term - but with the player in the final year of his contract he could be forced into a sale before deadline day. He admitted: “The window market is open. Anything can happen. I can say this player is important and then the club receive a big, big offer, probably we need to think a different thing."

That could see Socceroo Souttar brought in from the cold as cover at the heart of the defence. And with the sale of the Dane potentially going all the way up to deadline day Rangers may not get their man until the very last second should they make a move.

But following the win over Ross County, Beale alluded to taking a patient approach as he targeted one final summer recruit. He stated at Dingwall: "As the week goes something could happen. As it stands just now, it’ll be more outs and ins for sure.”

Could the deal that emerges as the week goes on be Souttar? Only time will tell with deadline day fast approaching.
