Benjamin Pavard has told Bayern Munich he wants to leave for Inter Milan despite being linked with Manchester United.

The Frenchman had been tentatively tipped for an Old Trafford switch should a defender, namely Harry Maguire, leave. Pavard can play at both right-back and centre-back.

With Milan Skriniar leaving Inter this summer, the Italians should be able to offer him more game time. Pavard was left out of the Bayern squad that beat Augsburg 3-1 on Sunday, with Tuchel putting this down to the player having “some problems”.

Speaking to DAZN before kick-off, the German coach revealed that Pavard has made his mind up over his Bayern future. Tuchel said of the 2018 World Cup winner: “He has some problems so he's not with the squad.

“We understand Benji wants to join Inter but to complete a transfer, there's not only one way to consider. We need to find a replacement or it won't happen.”

It’s thought United have not made a formal approach for Pavard, with MEN Sport reporting last week that the club are instead concentrating on signing a new left-back. Erik ten Hag has been forced to make a late move in the transfer market amid significant injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon and Marc Cucurella of Chelsea are considerations for Ten Hag, who has 20-year-old Alvaro Fernandez as his only fit natural option in the position.
