Nottingham Forest have revived their bid to sign Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares on loan.
Talks for the 23-year-old looked to have collapsed last week with Aston Villa then showing an interest.
However, Forest are now hopeful of getting a deal agreed for the former Benfica defender with an option to buy.
The Portuguese defender has not yet featured for Arsenal this season and does not appear to have a long-term future under Mikel Arteta.
Tavares arrived in north London in 2021 and spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Marseille.

He scored six goals in 31 appearances in France, and is now set to be on the move again.
In what promises to be a busy few days for Steve Cooper's club, Corinthians defender Murillo is due in for a medical on Tuesday ahead of completing his £13.75million move.
Forest have made a £7million offer for Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, who was among Manchester United's targets before they agreed a £4.25million fee with Fenerbahce for Turkish shot-stopper Altay Bayindir.

Speculation continues to mount surrounding the future of Forest star Brennan Johnson, with Brentford and Tottenham both interested in signing the Welsh attacker this window
Cooper's side are also in talks with Bologna over a swap that would see them bring in Nicolas Dominguez for midfielder Remo Freuler.
An offer has gone in for Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi while Middlesbrough want to sign Lewis O'Brien on loan.
Forest expect an offer from Tottenham this week for £50m-rated Brennan Johnson that will also see them offered players in return.
Brentford have had two offers for Johnson rejected by Forest. The Bees also offered add-ons and a sell-on clause but are now also ready to rival Burnley for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.
