New signing Beto has travelled to Doncaster for his first taste of life with Everton.

The striker, who was confirmed as the club’s fifth summer signing on Tuesday, is on the bench as Sean Dyche names a strong squad for the Carabao Cup second round. Youssef Chermiti, the Blues’ other new striker, is in the starting line-up for the first time since his arrival from Sporting.

Abdoulaye Doucoure, Amadou Onana and Arnaut Danjuma will also begin against the side propping up the Football League, while Ben Godfrey and Vitalii Mykolenko make their first starts of the campaign. Mykolenko missed much of pre-season through a summer injury.

There is no place in the squad for Tom Cannon, however. The striker is the subject of intense late interest from Championship clubs and his absence heavily points towards him not being involved in Dyche’s first team thinking. He is reportedly the subject of permanent transfer bids, as well as loan requests.
