The latest Aston Villa transfer news as the defender looks set to become the fifth new signing of the summer transfer window
Aston Villa have just over 24 hours to complete their summer transfer business as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad for the remainder of the season.
Villa have so far added four new signings in Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres, Moussa Diaby and Nicolo Zaniolo. And there is expected to be another new face in the squad before the end of the window.
The club are closing in on the signing of defender Clement Lenglet from Barcelona. The centre-back spent last season on loan with Tottenham Hotspur, where he played 26 times in the Premier League and seven times in the Champions League.

He has not been involved at all for Barcelona so far this season after returning to the Nou Camp in the summer. He will therefore look to complete a move away in the last hours of the transfer window.

Villa were first linked with the defender on Tuesday, with the defender expected to leave the Nou Camp before Friday’s transfer deadline. It is claimed that Sevilla and Valencia had also made offers for the player this summer, but Villa looked the most likely destination.
Agreement reached
Villa reached an agreement with Barcelona over a loan deal on Wednesday, with the defender set to become the fifth new arrival of the summer. He will join Villa on a season-long loan following the injury to Tyrone Mings earlier this month.
It will be Lenglet’s second loan spell in the Premier League in as many seasons. The centre-back spent last season on a temporary deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Medical to take place
According to Sky Sports , Lenglet is set to undergo a medical at Villa Park today (Thursday), as the final details of the deal are sorted. The defender will have flown into the UK and is looking to finalise a deal before Friday's deadline.
