A looming transfer to Celtic could see Nat Phillips earn a reprieve from Manchester City diehard Liam Gallagher.

The Oasis legend's daughter Molly is dating the Liverpool star who is about to swap Merseyside for a chance to answer Brendan Rodgers' defensive SOS and the opportunity to start against Rangers on Sunday. Phillips' dad Jimmy played at Ibrox in the 80s but it's a potential olive branch from his father-in-law to be which a move to Glasgow offers.

Gallagher has always had a soft spot for Celtic and has spoken about his affinity for the Premiership champions due to his Irish heritage with a picture of him kissing the badge of a punter being shared on social media in the past. But it was a different case last summer when one fan asked if Phillips would be heading to the Gallagher residence for a party after Jurgen Klopp's side outlasted City in the Community Shield. One cheeky punter ask if Nat was coming round for a celebration and the rock hero quickly shot it down. He firmly said: "Not in my house he won't."

Phillips will be tasked with saving the day at the back for Celtic with Maik Narwocki, Cameron Carter Vickers and Stephen Welsh out until at least October. But a challenge is right up the Bolton-born's star street as he thrived amid Liverpool's defensive woes when Virgil van Dijk and Co were on the shelf.
