SAINTS have confirmed that academy defender Matt Carson has joined Braintree Town on a short-term loan deal, as first reported by the Daily Echo.
The 19 year old heads to the Vanarama National League South side having agreed on a one-month loan deal.
It will be the Northern Ireland youth international's first taste of senior football.
Having returned from injury, Carson signed his first professional contract with Southampton last season.
The club statement adds: "The club wishes Matt well for the duration of his loan spell and will follow his progress."
