Kenny Miller doubles down on Celtic transfer assessment insisting Phillips and Palma don't change Champions League landscape

The Clyde 1 pundit made the comments a fortnight ago but has since doubled down on his point.

Kenny Miller has doubled down on his claim that Celtic's transfer business this window has been 'underwhelming'.

And the former Rangers forward reckons Brendan Rodgers' side is not oven-ready for the dizzying heights of the Champions League. The Hoops had a lull in activity after securing the likes of Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke last month before announcing the loan arrival of experienced Liverpool defender Nat Phillips after Aris winger Luis Palma signed a five-year deal in a £3.5million switch. But Miller reckons since he made those comments on live radio, the landscape hasn't changed.

It comes as Rodgers all-but confirmed the arrival of Benfica loan star Paulo Bernardo, but gave somewhat contradictory statements in his media conferences on deadline day about the number of potential new arrivals. Nevertheless, Miller believes the money spent on the eight summer recruits may have been better placed elsewhere.

He told Clyde 1: "Two weeks ago I got pulled up for my comments on Celtic's 'underwhelming' window and I still think it still applies. Even with the signings that have come in. Champions League ready - I mean what is that? And how much does it cost to get it? There could have been bigger names, money spent elsewhere on players that you're more confident will come in and make an impact.

"The injuries are ridiculous to the centre-backs, but I'll stick by my statement. Celtic's transfer business in this window has been a bit underwhelming."
