John Hartson reveals Celtic VAR astonishment as giggling Ally McCoist seizes on unsaid Rangers insinuation
The former Parkhead goal machine believes Gustaf Lagerbielke got away with one during the tussle with Cyriel Dessers.
Celtic legend John Harston reckons his former team got away with one against Rangers but claims he was left stunned the champions got the rub of the green on enemy territory.
The former Parkhead goal machine believes Gustaf Lagerbielke wasn't fouled by Cyriel Dessers and reckons the wrong decision was made by referee Don Robertson and his VAR official Alan Muir to overturn the call to award Kemar Roofe's strike which followed the tackle that floored the Swede.
Asked whether Celtic got away with one against Rangers, the winking Welshman told talkSPORT, he said: "First of all, I am really, really surprised Celtic got a decision at Ibrox (laughter in studio). I've been there, I have had goals disallowed there. I've had all sorts of things going on there." And that led to a giggling Ally McCoist chiming in as he read between the lines over Hartson's initial verdict. He said: "I know where you are on that. If you said you got a decision at Ibrox, that tells me everything big fella."
Hartson added: "I am with the boys, I think Lagerbielke kicks Dessers' calf. Lagerbielke is very clever. He goes over and almost buys the foul off VAR and the referee. It wasn't a foul, Celtic have got away with one. Over the course of the season you like to think they level themselves off. But Celtic got a decision there at Ibrox, no away fans, 50,000 fans, I think it was a wonderful win."
