Albian Ajeti finally leaves Celtic as Gaziantep take a punt on £5million Parkhead flop

Ajeti has signed a one-year deal with the Turkish Super Lig club which includes the option of an additional 12 months.

£5millon flop Albian Ajeti has finally left Celtic after Gaziantep confirmed the arrival in Turkey.

The Swiss spent last season on loan at Sturm Graz and scored three times, but didn't do enough to convince the Austrians to make the move permanent, returned to Glasgow in the summer expecting to leave the champions. Now three days after the UK transfer window closed, Ajeti has sealed his switch to the Turkish Super Lig outfit, penning a one-year deal with the option of another.

Ajeti arrived at Parkhead on a four-year deal in 2020 under Neil Lennon, but has failed to establish himself as a regular. Named captain in Ange Postecoglou's first friendly in charge, it looked as if Ajeti might have a role to play under the Aussie. But he soon fell down the pecking order and it became clear his future lay outside Glasgow despite time remaining on his contract.

A Gaziantep statement read: "Our Gaziantep Football Club has reached a 1+1 year agreement with Swiss striker Albian Ajeti.

"At the signing ceremony attended by our Vice President İbrahim Dicle, Ajeti signed the official contract binding him to our red-black club. We welcome Ajeti to our club and wish him great success under our crest."
