Former Rangers forward Kenny Miller believes Michael Beale needs to be given the ‘best possible chance’ as fans begin to turn on the Ibrox boss.

Following their failure to reach the Champions League group stages and a 1-0 loss at Ibrox to Celtic in the season’s first Old Firm match, Beale has found himself under increasing amounts of scrutiny from punters and pundits alike. "It is there for all to see when things are not going as well as everyone would like but the only way you can turn it is by winning games. The performances need to improve and the personnel within that need to improve. It is not just the manager.

"I get he has the responsibility with the signings but it is also up to the individuals on the field to take the responsibility and perform. It is really important that in Rangers' next phase of games, they pretty much go unscathed.

"I understand the frustrations of fans but stability and continuity also, for me, gives you a better chance of achieving success. Where Rangers are at the moment is not where any fans of the club want to see them.

"Only time will tell if Michael is the right man for the job going forward but he definitely deserves the best possible chance to let it develop and get better."
