Sead Haksabanovic ignites post Celtic fury as Montenegro anger set to escalate over 'holiday' snap

The winger told his national side no for crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers but appears to be enjoying some downtime.

Sead Haksabanovic has been sunning it up abroad despite telling his national boss he couldn't play for Montenegro.

The Celtic winger hasn't majorly endeared himself to Parkhead fans in recent weeks, as a loaded social media post sparked the ire of the Hoops contingent and boss Brendan Rodgers who admits he was 'surprised' the winger had made the claims. Haksabanovic posted the message: "If they don't see your value maybe you're not in the right place," before he was shipped off to Stoke City on loan on deadline day after a lack of game time at Celtic.

The 24-year-old then declared to tell his national team boss Miodrag Radulovic that he wouldn't be turning up for crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers against Lithuania and Bulgaria despite being chosen in the 33-man squad. He instead returned to Glasgow after settling in to life at the Potters but as the Montenegrins drew 2-2 last night, denting their hopes of qualification, Haksabanovic wasn't in Scotland.

That is according to Swedish star Albion Ademi's Instagram post, which shows himself and Haksabanovic basking in the sun in Barcelona. The pair seem to be enjoying some food and drinks, while Haksabanovic re-shared the post to his own account. It comes after Radulovic wasn't best pleased with the former Rubin Kazan winger over his decision.

He said this week: "Sead contacted us and said that he needs to fulfil obligations related to moving from club to club, from Scotland to England, so we cannot count on him. Let him think about this decision.

"The players show how much they care playing for our national team by the decisions they make. He's decided to put his own personal situation first. So I will only concentrate on the players that are here and who do want to play for Montenegro."
