Wrexham sign ex-Sunderland star Steven Fletcher as veteran striker says he's 'raring to go'
The 36-year-old has signed on a free transfer
Wrexham AFC have announced the signing of former Premier League striker Steven Fletcher.
The 36-year-old was a free agent after being released from Scottish Premiership side Dundee United over the summer, but has now been snapped up by the League Two newcomers.
Fletcher arrives in North Wales with 700 career appearances under his belt, having played in the top flight in England, Scotland and France and won 39 caps for Scotland, scoring 10 international goals.
He represented Burnley, Wolves and Sunderland in the Premier League while he also went on loan to Marseille before turning out for Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City in the Championship.
And the Scotsman, who started his career with Hibernian, hopes he will be able to use his experience to help lift Phil Parkinson's side up the table after their return to the Football League.

“Hopefully I can bring a lot of experience," said Fletcher. "I’m 36, I’m still fit and still raring to go. One of the biggest selling points was the ambition of the club, and if I can help with that then great
"I don’t think you can not see what has been happening at Wrexham – it’s been a great experience for the fans, players and owners so hopefully we can continue that.”
On adding the striker to his ranks, Parkinson added: “I'm really pleased with the addition of Steve to the squad. He's missed football through pre-season but he's trained today with the lads and it's good to have him on board.
"His pedigree speaks for itself, and he's played most of his career at a very high level. He's an excellent professional and that's really important to fit in with the group here.”
