'What didn't help' - Adam Bogdan names big Liverpool mistake Loris Karius made after Champions League final
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has been assessing the work of Alisson Becker and Loris Karius
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has branded Alisson Becker "supernatural" and believes Loris Karius didn't help himself with his post-2018 Champions League Final actions.
Bogdan signed for the Reds on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers as back-up to then-first-choice Simon Mignolet. He went on to make six appearances for the club under Jurgen Klopp before leaving in 2019.
This means there was around 12 months of crossover between Alisson's arrival and his departure, however according to the Hungarian he never spent time with the Brazilian. This makes sense as he was loaned to Hibernian for the final year of his Anfield contract.
Still asked to assess the current No.1 on The Kopite Podcast, Bogdan provided a glittering review.

"You see, it’s hard for me because I haven’t trained with him, but, for me, he seems to be more like a supernatural goalkeeper," he exclaimed.
"He has an unbelievable talent, ability-wise when he has to. He must be close to 100KGs, but he has the legs for it. He's got so much power, his positioning is excellent, he's so brave and relaxed at the same time. He’s the perfect goalie, for me.
"When I left and we had [Loris] Karius and Simon [Mignolet], it didn't really work out although they played many games and we got to the Champions League Final with them, and I said at the time you need to go for the best goalkeeper in the world for the biggest price it can get to.
"Liverpool certainly got the one and it's proven right when Alisson won the team many medals with his performances - unbelievable, to be honest.
"Without a goalkeeper making unbelievable saves, you don't get to the Champions League finals these days and certainly Liverpool has one of the best in the world. Liverpool fans can count themselves very lucky to have him."
Bogdan then revisited the previously mentioned Karius in relation to the fateful Champions League performance due to a concussion that sparked the end of the German's Liverpool career. Bogdan is of the belief that his former team-mate made one mistake after the final.
"It's crazy how close you come, you play a Champions League final and as I say, it didn't really work out in the end. You get to a Champions League final, how many players are dreaming of this?" Bogdan explained.
"What didn't help him is the video he posted after the Champions League final, I don't know if you remember, that he's in Los Angeles and living a life."
The video in question was an edit posted to the goalkeeper's personal Instagram account two months after the match in Kiev, featuring a montage of footage from the Californian city. Karius could be seen enjoying a lavish LA mansion, eating ice cream on Venice Beach and putting in the hard yards in personal training sessions.
"He is entitled to," continued Bogdan. "But at the end didn't have the best optical after losing the Champions League final.
"Having said that, he worked hard. Anybody who is at Liverpool work incredibly hard in the gym, on the pitch, doing the right thing sleeping-wise and recovering-wise so he is no different.
"I'm gonna say again, he played the Champions League final and he helped the team in getting there so he is a really good goalkeeper, but certainly what didn't help him in that moment was posting that sort of video after losing a final, which of course would hurt fans.
"Liverpool fans are not stupid, they understand being in a Champions League final is a huge thing so of course fans would be angry at the time, but at the same time people are humans, they make mistakes, but at the same time not showing enough remorse, I would say.
"Nevertheless, he is a top professional, he trained his best, he played his best and he tried to give his best all of the time."
Bogdan, who is currently without a club having left Hungarian champions Ferencvaros in the summer, revealed that he is considering retirement and a future in goalkeeper coaching.
