One irate Rangers fan reckons the cries from some supporters to sack Michael Beale are tantamount to 'cancel culture', and Kenny Miller says it's all knee-jerk.

It's been civil war between some of the Rangers support in recent weeks after the London boss' heavy defeat to PSV in the Champions League was compounded by a 1-0 loss to rivals Celtic on their home turf of Ibrox, opening up a four-point gap behind Brendan Rodgers' men. It has some sections of the Light Blues support calling for Beale's head, but the Glasgow side are sticking by their man and the former QPR boss says he doesn't need assurances on his future.

But one raging fan called in to Clyde 1's Superscoreboard to claim fellow Rangers fans are simply jumping on the social media bandwagon and that calling for Beale to lose his job after just four games is like cancel culture. Former Ibrox man Miller agreed with the supporter and believes it would be 'knee-jerk' of Rangers to make that call and that the club "know what they are doing."

The caller said: "All this outrage calling for Beale to be sacked is utter nonsense, it's so stupid. I'm getting so fed up of this cancel culture, this sacking culture in football if you have a few bad results and you're out the door. You have to give the manager the time to do the job, since 2015 Rangers have had five permanent managers and people are calling for a sixth already? It's nonsense. Stupid and ridiculous...I'm fed up of those loud and angry Rangers fans."

Miller responded on Clyde SSB: "The fans were right to vent their frustrations, like every Rangers fan would have been disappointed at the end, with emotions running high. What is important, and I do agree with Andy it is too early, is that you don't want to be a club that listen to the fans - you have to listen because it's important - you know what you are doing at your club. They've got a plan between Michael, John Bennett the chairman and James Bisgrove.

"Rangers know where they are going, they believe Michael is the man, they gave him the job. It's not the time for knee-jerk reaction. [Asked if a sacking is a million miles away] Actually you are. You are.

"Because if Rangers beat St Johnstone, I don't care what team it is they should win the next three domestic games. That's nothing new. You lose heavily to PSV, in that manner, you then lose an Old Firm at home with a depleted Celtic backline and fans voice those frustrations.

"If you go and drop points to St Johnstone, potentially six points behind through five games, Rangers fans will absolutely be up in arms. It would maybe lead the board to make a certain call. Is that the right call? Only time would tell.

"I don't want Rangers to be a team that start sacking managers left, right and centre, going through three managers in two seasons. That is where you are at if Beale leaves now. Steven Gerrard was given three years with no trophy, Beale is strong favourite to lift the first trophy this season."
