Rangers star Rabbi Matondo slammed by Arturo Vidal in bizarre live stream blast as winger told to ‘study a little’

ARTURO VIDAL has claimed that Rabbi Matondo didn’t do his homework on Real Betis goalkeeper Claudio Bravo ahead of last night’s Europa League clash.

The Rangers winger missed a couple of chances to give his side the lead at Ibrox and the former Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Inter Milan star was left unimpressed by his composure in front of goal.

It didn’t matter in the end for Michael Beale‘s side as they kicked off their Group C campaign with three points after Abdallah Sima‘s second half strike sealed the win for the hosts.

But Matondo was still slammed for his performance as Vidal took aim at him during his Twitch live stream.

The Chilean international, 36, had an eye on the action at Ibrox as he was supporting fellow countryman Bravo.

The veteran goalkeeper started his first match of the season for Betis after picking up an injury while away on international duty.

He was a doubt for the Europa League opener but Manuel Pellegrini was handed a pre-match boost when the stopper was deemed fit to play.

And he was called into action early doors after Matondo found himself one-on-one with the goalie after just five minutes.

His shot was easily saved by Bravo though, leading Vidal to fume over the pacy forward’s missed chance.

After Bravo saved the effort, Vidal said: “You can’t take so much time if Claudio is there. He will stop you.”

Matondo was then denied again by Bravo later in the match and the experienced midfielder vented further.

He went on: “Matondo, we told you, what are you doing?

“He doesn’t know who is in goal. It’s true, there are players who don’t care, they just worry about themselves. But you have to study a little.

“If I have Claudio in the opponent’s goal, I’m not going to hit him from the sides, you have to finish off Claudio when you’re standing central.”

Betis boss Pellegrini was left devastated by the defeat and the manager claimed the result was “unfair” on his team as he believed they deserved at least a point from the tie.

The Spanish side dropped to the bottom of the table following the result, joining Aris Limassol on zero points.

Sparta Prague came from behind to beat the Cypriot champions 3-2 at the Letná Stadium in the other game of the group last night.
