Edwin van der Sar sends message to Manchester United following brain haemorrhage recovery
The former Man Utd goalkeeper was admitted to hospital in July but has since returned home and is keen to attend Old Trafford.
Edwin van der Sar is hoping to visit Old Trafford soon as he continues to recover from a brain haemorrhage suffered in July. The former Manchester United goalkeeper was admitted to hospital after suffering a bleed on the brain. He was on holiday with his family in Croatia at the time.
Via regular updates from his wife and Ajax, where he recently left his role as chief executive officer, United fans were able to learn that the Dutchman was not in life-threatening danger. The club were one of several to send their best wishes nonetheless.
Van der Sar was moved out of intensive care in July and has been active on social media since the incident. And on Sunday morning he took the time to thank United for their message.

In response to a post by United sending their best wishes in July, Van der Sar responded: "Many thanks @ManUtd and hope to see you soon at Old Trafford."
During Van der Sar's spell in the boardroom at Ajax, he worked alongside Erik ten Hag and the pair developed a strong relationship. Now in charge at United, the Reds boss wished his former colleague during pre-season and will certainly welcome him back to Old Trafford.
"It was a real shock for everyone," Ten Hag told MUTV. "I think in Manchester, all the fans from Manchester and in the Netherlands as well. All the fans from Ajax [as well].
"It's so devastating when you see those pictures and hear that news. We all have our thoughts with him and his family."
