Everton hero Duncan Ferguson is set to land a new job in management – despite his disastrous spell at Forest Green.

The former Newcastle and Rangers striker was appointed by the eco club last season and was charged with keeping them in League One following a wretched start to the season. However, Ferguson managed just one win in 18 games as Forest Green crashed out of the third tier.

Ferguson looked set to remain in charge for their League Two campaign, only to leave the club in July at the start of pre-season training. He was initially replaced by Hannah Dingley, the club’s academy chief, on an interim basis before David Horseman was appointed permanently.

I’m grateful to Dunc for joining us in such difficult circumstances and for all of his hard work at the club.
