Rangers SFA complaint letter has sparked VAR power cut and Crawford Allan silence is deafening - Hotline
Michael Gannon takes your calls as callers continue to debate the controversial opening goal at Ibrox on Wednesday.
The row over the Abdallah Sima shove continues to rumble into the weekend with Celtic fans up in arms.
Rangers breezed past Livingston but the Hotline storm won’t go away with VAR again in the centre of the controversy. Jack Armstrong, Bathgate, said: “There is nothing wrong with VAR, it’s the incompetents supervising it who are the problem. There was not one person watching the Sima incident who didn't see it as a blatant foul. These people can make any decision they like and there is no explanation at the time and no consequences. Utter shambles.”
Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: “So it seems a letter of complaint to the SFA about referees' performances works, given the decisions Rangers got in their favour against Motherwell and Livingston. Does a complaint result in a power cut in the VAR studio?” Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: “The silence from Crawford Allan is deafening after yet another shocking VAR no show in an incident involving Rangers. He was out of his seat like a jack in the box over a decision involving Celtic but after two of the worst VAR decisions in history with Celtic's no penalty at Kilmarnock and Wednesday night’s latest joke at Ibrox people want answers, so where is he now?”
But Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “Thanks to all the Celtic supporters who were obviously watching the Rangers game on Wednesday. That will further boost the viewing figures and enhance Scottish football.”
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has spoken this week about the potential of Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley. But Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: “Comedy Gold over the last few days from the Celtic minded pundits claiming that O’Riley and Hatate are worth millions and Celtic fans should enjoy them while they can. It got me wondering what they would be worth if they ever win a game in Europe.”
Bill Lockerbie, Northampton, said: “Is it not possible for Brendan to download the Daily Record app in order that he gets to know a little bit more of what's going at the club he manages? For him to have little awareness of where Hatate and others are regarding contract renewals or even potential new signings, is astonishing.”
Michael Beale has eased some of the pressure with four wins on the spin. But Liam Birney, Paisley, said: “Is Michael Beale the ‘brains behind Gerrard’ or just the guy who lays out the cones and bibs? I suspect he's somewhere in between. Either way he's no match for an elite manager like Rodgers.”
James Logan, Glasgow, said: “Alan Flett telling me I can’t count because I said Celtic have dominated Scottish football for the past 20 years. To prove his point he quotes figures from 2000-2011. If you count back 20 years, it would be 2003, not 2000 and in that period Celtic have won 15 League titles and Rangers only five.”
But Alan Flett kept the row going and said: “James Logan claims that Celtic have won 70 European matches in the last 20 years and lists Man Utd, Benfica, Barcelona, Ajax and Lazio as some of the teams they’ve beaten. What about the other 65? Come on James, please put us out of our misery!”
Finally, Rangers have a new kit out but John Davidson, Kirkintilloch, said: “I can't believe Rangers are bringing out a fourth shirt in a season before Christmas. They are ripping off the fans who have to watch dross on the park.”
