Unai Emery has confirmed Leon Bailey will miss Aston Villa’s Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday (12:30pm kick-off), while Jacob Ramsey will face a late fitness test.

Ramsey made a return from injury earlier this month and featured in the defeat at Legia Warsaw and in the 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend. He was not included in the matchday squad to face Everton in the Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday night due to injury and is a doubt to feature against the Seagulls.

Alex Moreno is also not ready to feature for Villa, despite returning from an injury which he picked up at the back end of last season having been named among the substitutes against Crystal Palace and Legia. Meanwhile, Tim Iroegbunam is back training with his teammates at Bodymoor Heath.

Villa could jump into the top four this weekend with a win over Brighton, and are aiming to claim their 10th successive Premier League victory at Villa Park. Emery was boosted by the return of Diego Carlos and Bertrand Traore in midweek having overcome respective injuries.

Asked for an update on Villa’s team news, Emery said: "We are having some small injuries. Progressively they are coming back, Tim is coming back training with us. Ramsey is still in pain, but we are going to wait until the last moment tomorrow to see if he can go on the bench or not.

"Bailey is out, it's not a big injury, but he is not ready for tomorrow. Alex Moreno is working progressively, getting better. The other players are going to be ready."
