As Rangers begin their search for a new manager on the back of Michael Beale's sacking, Hotline callers have played their part in that recruitment process.
Graeme Souness, Kevin Muscat, Frank Lampard and... Neil Lennon and Scott Brown have all been given honourable mentions as contenders for the post. Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: "The biggest job in Scottish football is now available and it's exciting times ahead for Rangers, Steven Davis was kept at the club despite age and availability for a reason. Rangers must bring in Souness to play a dual role with Davis to lead the line. For contacts, experience and tactical nous, they will blow opposition away."
Barrie Urquhart, Clydebank, said: "Can I just ask any Rangers fans that are disgruntled at the moment to have a bit of dignity after matches? Waiting outside Ibrox to abuse players and the club captain isn't acceptable. I understand people are unhappy and have paid their money so are entitled to their opinions but after the final whistle get yourselves up the road like the rest of us. They are giving the club and the rest of the respectful fans a bad name. Show a bit of decorum and think about the club's reputation."
John Bruce emailed: "On Saturday, I was at a charity dinner in celebration of Walter Smith. The event was attended by a long line of former Rangers players and true legends, including Souness and Ally McCoist, who had all played for the great man. They were applauded into the hall and paid emotional and heartfelt tributes to Walter's years at the club. Those players all knew, and still know, what it means to play for Rangers. Once again, we appear to be stuck with too many who haven't a clue."
Riobert Pender emailed: "The manager was not only let down by his players but he displayed the energy and passion of a wet tissue. Hope plenty of time is taken to get the right replacement with a Barry Ferguson type to fuel pride and a senior director of football steeped in Rangers tradition."
Eddie Easson, Ballingry, said: "I hate to say it but I told you so. Beale was never going to cut it at Ibrox. He was out of his league, out of his depth and now he is out of a job. One thing for certain both his and his backroom staff's departures won't come cheap."

Stephen Ward, Milngavie, said: "I’m told Souness, McCoist, Muscat, Dick Advocat and Graeme Murty were all in the Louden Tavern on Saturday before the game. Ah, it was only pictures."
Kenneth, Houston, said: "So Beale has gone, a second rate manager at a second rate team. I was surprised that the old excuse wasn't rolled out that Aberdeen only raise their game to play Rangers. Give Aberdeen praise for their performance."
Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: "I see Hotline caller Chris Lowe is predicting Celtic’s future player profits again which, as usual, he will get spectacularly wrong. Maybe he could have a stab at Rangers managerial bill for the last 12 months and the next 12 months."
Stephen Mulhern said: "It comes as no great surprise that the Rangers board are saying they will take their time on a new appointment. Any high profile manager knows the job is a poisoned chalice and my guess once again they will approach Derek Mcinnes who certainly won’t have Brendan Rodgers losing sleep."
Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: "It's no real surprise to see Beale go, and I wish him well. Rangers must get the next appointment spot on and I would go for Kjetil Knutson or Lampard . Muscat seems to be the favourite but perhaps that's too big a gamble."
Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: "Rangers players and my second-hand car have the same thing in common, both keep on misfiring and I hope the board don't when it comes to misfiring the manager after another horror show against Aberdeen."
Neil Renton, Leith, said: "With Beale having been sacked from Rangers, there is a new management team dying for a fresh challenge. They’re a double act full of passion and fight that the Glasgow outfit need. It makes perfect sense for the Ibrox side to appoint Neil Lennon and Scott Brown as manager and assistant."
