Juan Mata, Cesar Azpilicueta and Willian are among thousands who have sent heartwarming messages to Eden Hazard following his decision to retire from professional football. The 32-year-old was left without a club this season after Real Madrid terminated his contract a year ahead of a schedule.
Despite reportedly receiving up to as many as six contract offers since leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, Hazard decided to hang up his boots. In a statement on his official Instagram account, the Chelsea legend reflected on his magical career.
"You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time," wrote Hazard. "After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer.
"I was able to realise my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world. During my career I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates - thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all.
"I also want to thank the clubs I have played for: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and thank the RBFA for my Belgian Selection. A special thank you to my family, my friends, my advisors and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad.
"Finally, a huge thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me for all these years and for your encouragement everywhere I have played. Now is the time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences. See you off the field soon my friends."

Thousands of supporters flooded the comment section with heartwarming messages, but three in particular stood out. Former Chelsea teammates Mata, Azpilicueta and Willian all showed their love and support for Hazard.
Mata wrote: "My friend, what a pleasure to play with you… You are one of the best players I’ve played with. We had so much fun together [praying emoji]. What a player, what a guy. Thank you for everything. All the best in your new chapter, enjoy, you deserve it! [three pair of hands clapping and a heart emoji]."
Azpilicueta's message translated as: "The best [blue heart emoji]. Congratulations on your spectacular career, my friend! [Hands clapping, kiss and shooting star emojis] #legend," said Azpilicueta.
Willian said: "It was a huge pleasure to play with you my brother, may God continue blessing your life. Thank you for everything love you bro!!! [heart, praying and praise emoji]"
