RANGERS job contender Kevin Muscat has left his current club's fans 'concerned' he could be about to move on.

The Australian took charge of Yokohama F. Marinos in their 1-0 win over Urawa Red Diamonds today but supporters have been left fearing he was saying goodbye in the aftermath.

Muscat, 50, remains in the frame for the vacancy at Rangers.

Along with Philippe Clement, he's a contender to replace Michael Beale who was sacked just over a week ago.

Muscat replaced Ange Postecoglou as Yokohama boss in 2021 and led them to J.League title glory last season.

With just a handful of games left this campaign, they're in contention again, four points behind Vissel Kobe.

But as SunSport revealed earlier this week, Muscat has told Gers chiefs he's prepared to walk away from Japan immediately despite their title push.

And Yokohama fans have been left fearing that he might just have been saying goodbye to them today.

Muscat led his side to a 1-0 first leg win over Urawa in the J.League cup semi-finals.

After the match, the Australian dropped a hint that he expected to be in the dugout for Sunday's second leg.

But his actions after the game have left Yokohama supporters fearing otherwise.

As the players joined together to celebrate in front of the fans, Muscat took a moment to greet the supporters alone.

He could be seen waving to them before leading them in a celebratory chant.

Muscat then walked off by himself while applauding the supporters, all with a somewhat emotional look on his face.

Some Yokohama fans took to social media to voice their concerns that their boss could've been appearing to say goodbye.

One supporter posted: "I'm concerned that Muscat is shown for a long time. Is it OK?"

Appearing to suggest he was planning to lead the team in Sunday's second leg, Muscat said after the game: "We haven't accomplished anything yet. The other match will be at an away location.

"Going into this match, we wanted to gain the upper hand, and we knew we were going to be aggressive and overwhelm our opponent.

"There may have been some dangerous moments in the first half due to the opponent's long balls and counterattacks, but I think our players played well. It was by no means an easy match, but a tough match."
