Liel Abada 'finished' at Celtic declares Israeli insider as winger told Green Brigade will BOO him on injury return
Abada has been told his time at Celtic Park may be up as the row over the Green Brigade's banner continues.
Israeli football pundit Avishai Sela has declared Liel Abada's time at Celtic "finished" amid rising tensions in the Gaza region.
The Scottish Premiership champions issued a statement slamming their own supporters for a banner supporting Palestine and criticising Israel for their actions in Middle East. In response, the Green Brigade slammed the board as 'hypocritical' for their statement that condemned political messages at the stadium.
Amid the back and forth, the ten-times capped Israeli international Abada has reportedly met with Hoops senior figures about the position he now finds himself in. And Sela insists the issue could spell the end of his time in the Scottish Premiership as he claimed the winger had demanded the talks and showed "extraordinary courage."
Abada is currently sidelined with a thigh injury. However, he signed a new four-year deal which will see him remain at Celtic until 2027 earlier this summer.
Speaking to Sport 5, Sela said: "It is not easy to get out of a long-term contract, which you signed a month ago, which gives you a high salary and supports an entire family. But one thing I do know: neither side is going to give up on this story.
"Abada will not fold, and it's a good thing, and the Celtic crowd will probably continue to wave Palestinian flags and protest against Israel. It is absolutely clear that it will also lead to boos towards Abada, every time he plays. Abada will make his own decisions. But one thing must be appreciated - and that is the willingness to stand up for oneself.
"I don't judge the situation in terms of value, it seems that Liel Abada has finished his role at Celtic. It's hard to imagine him playing for fans who don't want him. Even if the financial situation seems complex, in the end - in all the cases that we know of - it is decided in the player's favour. And the player's best interest is to find his place elsewhere."
