Beale said he'd always support the club and his former players and he made good on that to congratulate Helander on his international return.

Michael Beale is buzzing Filip Helander is back playing as he took to Instagram to give his former defender a big pat on the back.

Helander has revived his career after an injury-ravaged end to his Rangers spell and has started every league game for Odense BK since his arrival in Denmark. He's worked his way back into the Sweden setup too and on Thursday made his first appearance for his country in 18 months.

Beale was sacked by Rangers two weeks ago but is evidently still keeping up with things at Ibrox and beyond. He said in his farewell statement that he'll always support the club and it seems that sentiment extends to his former players too.

Speaking shortly after leaving Rangers, Beale said in an emotional statement: "Thank you to Rangers FC and to everyone behind the scenes at the training ground and Ibrox, to the board, staff, fans and all the players. I will always follow and support the club from afar and wish you every success.

"Now is the time for everyone to unite fully behind Steven Davis and the team for the coming games. There is still so much to play for this season and I have a strong belief in this group of players. Thank you and good luck."
