Former Leicester star Kasper Schmeichel admits he went 'over the line' and 'failed to be a role model' in an apology after swearing at a ball boy during Denmark's win over San Marino

Former Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has issued an apology after reportedly swearing at a ball boy during Denmark's 2-1 win over San Marino on Tuesday night. 

The 36-year-old ran to the young boy and screamed at him for not throwing the ball back on the pitch quickly midway through the match. 

As reported by Danish newspaper Se og Hør, Schmeichel allegedly said: 'Give me the ball you f***ing p****!'

The Anderlecht goalkeeper has admitted to going 'over the line' and that he 'failed' as a role model for children in a statement released on social media. 

'In a heated moment I went over the line and used the wrong choice of words to a ball boy during the game,' Schmeichel wrote on Instagram.

The 36-year-old Anderlecht goalkeeper has apologised and admitted to 'going over the line'

'As everyone knows, being a role model for children means everything to me, and I do everything to live up to that. Here I failed, and for that I am sorry and apologise.' 

Denmark took the lead on the verge of half-time through Rasmus Hojlund but were left shell shocked when San Marino got level just after the hour mark with a very rare goal. 

But Yussuf Poulsen secured the win for Denmark to strengthen their hopes of securing top spot in Group H ahead of top-of-the-table Slovenia. 

Some Danish players were left unhappy with San Marino's tactics. Manchester United striker Hojlund said: 'I feel they targeted me, as you can see at the end.

'I understand Italian and I could hear them saying that they had the idea to crush me.'

But San Marino's stars hit back at the former Atalanta star and labelled his claims as a 'disappointment' following the Euro 2024 qualifier.
