Modest Ross McCausland insists he is keeping his feet on the group despite breaking into the first-team plans at Rangers.

The winger came off the bench in Rangers’ last three games before with both Steven Davis and new Ibrox manager Philippe Clement backing the 20-year-old for success at Ibrox. Rangers bought him from Linfield in a compensation deal in 2019 and he has progressed through the academy ranks, is a regular in the B team and has now made five first-team appearances.

The Northern Ireland U21 international was back in action for the B team in their Europa Conference League clash with Breidablik - getting on the scoresheet in the 3-2 defeat. And despite his rapid rise to the first-team at Ibrox he insists he is remaining grounded - and looking to bring the experience to the academy ranks.

He told the U21 side after the Colt team clash: “Playing on the biggest stages, when you look at the game yesterday and in the Europa League, I’m always looking to bring my experience of those games into today and give it to the younger players.

“They are the games that we all want to play every week against a top side. Those are the types of matches that are going to get you ready when you go round to be involved in the first-team.

“I try to keep myself level headed and my two feet on the ground. Coming into these games, my main goal is keeping my numbers and impact on the game high.”
