Former Sheffield United and Leeds goalkeeper Paddy Kenny bags first job as a manager
Ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has secured his first managerial job and it'll be alongside Nathan Helliwell at ninth-tier club Goole
Former Sheffield United and Leeds goalkeeper Paddy Kenny will begin his venture into management with Goole.
The 45-year-old was announced as co-manager of the the Northern Counties East League Premier Division side alongside Nathan Helliwell on Tuesday (October 24) in a statement posted on social media by the club. "Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who applied for the position of first team manager," the statement on X read.
"Due to the high number of applicants, the club committee met over the weekend to evaluate each application and put together a shortlist for interviews. Following a long day of interviews throughout Monday, we are now in a position to announce Paddy Kenny and Nathan Helliwell as our new joint management team.

"Paddy and Nathan will be announcing their backroom team in due course. Please join us in welcoming Paddy and Nathan to the club." Kenny, who played over 300 times for Sheffield United during his eight years at the club, quoted the post as he wrote: "Really excited about this". Fans of the ninth-tier side offered their congratulations to the new managers as one person wrote: "Wish you all the football luck in the world... enjoy it Paddy".
Another commented: "Massive well done @paddykenny17 and @NathanHelliwell and well deserved Up the Vikings" while a third user : "Congratulations to both!" Kenny retired from football in 2018 after a 21-career that was mostly spent in the Championship but enjoyed two seasons of Premier League football with Sheffield United and Queen Park Rangers.

The former Republic of Ireland international enjoyed a close relationship with Neil Warnock who signed the goalkeeper five times during his managerial career. The 74-year-old has enjoyed 43 years in management and was most recently in charge of Championship side Huddersfield before he left the club last month after saying that was his last stint in football.
He was previously at the helm of The Terriers for two seasons between 1993 and 1995 having won 44 of his 108 games in charge.
