Matt Targett call made as Newcastle United supporters urge Eddie Howe to make two changes

The Magpies lost to Borussia Dortmund last time out and fans have called on the United boss to make a switch as they look to return to winning ways against Wolves

Dan Burn might be facing a challenge to his starting spot under Eddie Howe this weekend as Newcastle United call on the Magpies boss to drop him in place of Matt Targett for this evening's trip to Wolverhapton Wanderers.

Burn has started every Premier League and Champions League game for Newcastle so far this season, but was substituted after 70 minutes in the midweek defeat to Borussia Dortmund - the first time he's failed to complete 90 minutes this season.

Matt Targett, on the other hand, has had to make do with a place on the bench for the most part this season, with his only league start coming in a disappointing team performance at Brighton earlier in the campaign, which also happens to be the Magpies' last league defeat.

The other change fans want to see is less surprising. Alexander Isak started against the German giants on Wednesday night but limped off early on with a recurrence of a groin injury that kept him out of Sweden's squad during the international break.

Eddie Howe said: "Alex has a groin which we don't think is serious but it's a reoccurrence of the groin injury he suffered playing for Sweden so we need to assess that. He's had a scan today [Friday] but we don't suspect that is going to be too bad."

His replacement is a clear choice. Callum Wilson was brought on for Isak against Dortmund and is set to lead the line once more at Molineux Stadium on Saturday evening.
