Unai Emery claims Moussa Diaby is still adapting to his tactical demands despite Aston Villa's summer signing hitting the ground running this season.

Diaby has started each of Villa's opening ten Premier League matches this term, recording six goal contributions in that time. He has formed a devastating partnership with Ollie Watkins in the final third, with the duo creating more chances for one another than any other partnership in the league.

Diaby scored in Villa's 3-1 win over Luton Town on Sunday and played a key role for the club's third as it was his ball across the box which was turned into his own net by Tom Lockyer. After full-time, Hatters boss Rob Edwards admitted that Diaby was too hot to handle.

"You keep one man quiet, in Watkins and if he doesn't get you then the other man does - Diaby was exceptional today," Edwards said. "His movement was phenomenal and he posed a real threat.

"He picks up dangerous positions in pockets of space and the threat he had in behind us today was the difference in the game."

Villa head coach Emery believes Diaby will continue to improve as he learns more about his teammates and the structure he is playing in.

"The adaptation takes a long time, the adaptation of his teammates, in our idea, our demands is being long and needs time," Emery said. "When he scoring against Newcastle, it was not completely okay that he is in our squad and he knows everything about our style. No.

"The process is being on time and we are working with him collectively and individually, the position he can connect between Watkins and him. That is a process building and we have to take our time."

Matty Cash also sung Diaby and Watkins' praises after full-time, saying: "It has developed really quickly. Moussa has found his feet in the league really quick and Ollie has played in the league for a while now and is on bang form. We want to keep our players firing, keep the boys up front firing."
